Lionsgate has released the first trailer, poster and images for the sci-fi survival thriller “Above the Below,” directed by and starring Idris Elba alongside Martin Owen, per flickeringmyth.com.
The film follows three astronauts, played by Elba, Caitlin FitzGerald and Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who survive a disaster in space only to crash-land in the ocean.
Cut off from mission control with oxygen running low, they race against time to reach the surface while facing mounting dangers in the depths.
Lionsgate describes the film as a story about what people do when faced with the greatest stakes imaginable, as the astronauts confront impossible choices and mounting dangers in the depths of the ocean.
“Above the Below” is scheduled for theatrical release on December 4.
