Barbra Streisand to publish children’s book ‘And by the way…’ next March

Barbra Streisand will publish a children’s book titled “And by the way…” in March, the singer and actor announced, dedicating it to her grandchildren, per showbiz411.com.

The 40‑page book is illustrated by Paige Keiser and will be released by Flamingo Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House.

Streisand said she enjoys being “Gamma Barbra” to her grandchildren and cited reading as a way to engage and stimulate young minds. The book is dedicated to her grandchildren; Streisand has three step‑grandchildren from Josh Brolin and a fourth from James Brolin’s daughter Molly, and is also close to her son Jason Gould.

“And by the way…” features brief poetic lines encouraging creativity and confidence, with phrases offered on the book’s online listing such as urging children to “dress up, speak up, and dream big,” and to “fill your backpack with a book, paint, and paper.” The listing also includes the line: “And by the way . . . in my heart, you’re already a shining star.”

Streisand published a 900‑page memoir a few years ago. The forthcoming children’s book is substantially shorter at 40 pages and will be marketed by Flamingo Books, part of Penguin Random House’s trade publishing.

The announcement appeared alongside routine promotional material on entertainment site Showbiz411, which noted the release date and publisher information.
