Glen Hansard has died at the age of 56 following a single-vehicle motorcycle collision in West Dublin early on July 29, per pagesix.com.
The incident occurred at the Strawberry Beds shortly before 4:30am. Emergency service personnel treated the Oscar-winning Irish musician and actor at the scene, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Irish police service An Garda Síochána confirmed that forensic collision investigators have preserved the scene for examination and implemented local traffic diversions.
ATC Management, the agency representing Hansard, formally confirmed his passing on behalf of his family, expressing deep shock and requesting privacy. The agency also extended gratitude to the emergency services who attended the crash site.
Hansard gained international acclaim as the frontman of the Irish rock band The Frames and as one half of the folk duo The Swell Season. He achieved global recognition for starring in the 2007 musical film *Once*, earning an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Falling Slowly.”
