Reeplay reflects on Nigeria’s hardship in new single ‘Country Dey Hot’

Reeplay has released a new single, “Country Dey Hot,” in which he addresses rising prices, insecurity and much more, while capturing the resilience of Nigerians navigating daily hardship.

Born Jibril Adeiza Omaki, the Nigerian rapper is a member of the Anti World Gangstars collective and has built a reputation in the country’s hip-hop scene for lyricism grounded in street experience.

“Country Dey Hot” continues that direction, framing everyday survival as its central theme.

The song addresses rising prices, insecurity, flooding and the pressure of making ends meet, delivered through punchlines and street slang rather than direct commentary. Reeplay moves between accounts of daily struggle and moments of levity, aiming for a tone that remains light despite its subject matter.

Reeplay said he wanted the song to be something people could dance to while recognising their own experiences in the lyrics. He added that despite the country’s challenges, Nigerians tend to find joy and keep pushing forward, a spirit he wanted the track to reflect.

“Country Dey Hot” is distributed by ONErpm and is streaming now on all major platforms.
