Livespot restructures into 5 divisions, announces debut film

Livespot has restructured its operations into five distinct divisions and announced its first original scripted feature film, “University of Side Hustle,” which will premiere at Entertainment Week Africa in Lagos in November 2026.

The Lagos-based company, which has operated across events, production and experiential marketing for 12 years, according to a statement, announced the changes in June 2026. The restructure formalises five interconnected divisions: Studios, Scenic, Spaces, Experiences and Icons.

Livespot Studios produces film, television, music and post-production content. Its credits include The Voice Nigeria, Last One Laughing Naija, Amazon Prime Video’s first African unscripted original, and The Real Housewives of Lagos for Showmax, the latter earning co-founders Deola and Darey Art Alade two nominations at the AMVCA 12 awards, for Best Unscripted Series and Best Costume Design.

Livespot Scenic designs and builds event sets, stages and environments. Past projects include the AMVCA 10 and 11 ceremonies, the Heineken House UEFA Champions League activation, and the Fenty Club. Livespot Experiences produces live cultural events, including the Livespot X Festival, Detty December Fest and Love Like A Movie, and handles experiential marketing for clients including Meta, Disney, Nestlé, Access Bank and the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Livespot Spaces owns and operates event venues. Its current flagship, the Livespot Entertarium in Lekki, has hosted events including Amazon’s ***Gangs of Lagos**** premiere, an NBA Finals watch party, and activations for Meta. A second Entertarium, spanning 3,395 square metres, is under development in Ikoyi and expected to open in 2027. Livespot Icons operates as a talent bookings and partnerships agency, connecting artists with festival engagements, brand deals and casting opportunities; working alongside, rather than replacing, existing management structures.

The company describes the model as integrated by design. A single production or activation can, in principle, move across all five divisions within one group. University of Side Hustle is presented as a demonstration of that thesis: produced by Studios, built by Scenic, premiering at a Spaces venue, with talent supplied by Icons.

“The first phase of Africa’s global creative rise was about visibility,” said Darey Art Alade, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer. “The next phase is about ownership, structure and execution.”

The announcement coincides with Livespot’s expansion of Entertainment Week Africa beyond Lagos. The company launched EWA Creative Connect events in Los Angeles and London earlier in 2026, bringing together investors and executives from organisations including Warner Records, Amazon, the British Film Institute, Diageo and Afrexim Bank. The Lagos flagship, EWA Convergence, has established a Deal Room through which four companies attracted live investor interest at the most recent edition.

Africa’s creative economy is valued at approximately $59 billion and projected to support 20 million jobs by 2030, according to UNESCO and the African Development Bank. Deola Art Alade, Founder and Group Chief Executive, said the sector’s challenge was no longer one of talent or global interest. “What has often been missing is the connective tissue, the companies that sit across content, capital, live experience and infrastructure and make them work as one system,” she said.
