Kenyan rapper and songwriter Calvo Mistari has released Baddest, a three-track EP featuring Naiboi, which moves through themes of love, vulnerability, confidence and ambition, marking the artist’s latest project following his widely recognised breakout project, Mwanaume Ni Effort.
Born Calvin Kirimba, Calvo Mistari first came to prominence as a member of the hip-hop group Lyrical Assassins before establishing a solo career under Team Mistari.
His previous project, Mwanaume Ni Effort, cemented his standing within East African urban music, with its title track gaining broad recognition across the region.
The EP opens with the title track “Baddest,” on which Calvo Mistari addresses themes of loneliness and the pursuit of genuine connection, with Naiboi contributing vocals that add warmth and melodic presence to the record. The two artists combine to produce a track positioned within the current sound of East African pop.
“Baddest Doba,”the second track, shifts toward themes of discipline, perseverance and professional focus. The closing track, “Baddest Vibes”, returns to romantic territory, blending longing with rhythmic energy to round out the project’s emotional range.
“I wanted the project to feel honest,” Calvo Mistari said. “It’s about confidence, love, and understanding yourself while still enjoying the journey.”
Baddest is available now on all streaming platforms via ONErpm.
