Spotify has officially unveiled its list of top Afrobeats artistes for 2025, with Nigerian musicians overwhelmingly dominating the ranking. Leading the charge is Grammy-award winner, Burna Boy.
The highly anticipated list, shared by Spotify on Monday, spotlights the artistes fuelling the global expansion of the genre.
Alongside Burna Boy, the prestigious ranking features some of the biggest names in contemporary Afrobeats: Rema, Wizkid and Asake. Notably, Ayra Starr stands out as the sole female artiste to secure a spot on this year’s top list.
In a statement, Spotify highlighted the genre’s surging worldwide popularity: “Afrobeats continues to expand its reach, with fans streaming artists such as #heisrema, #wizkidayo, and #burnaboygram from Nigeria to Brazil. Check out some of the top songs, artists and countries fuelling the genre’s discovery and growth globally.”

The platform also revealed the most-streamed Afrobeats tracks of 2025, featuring a blend of chart-topping hits and international collaborations:

Spotify further noted that the countries where Afrobeats music was most discovered in 2025 included the US, Brazil, France, the UK, Germany and Nigeria, underscoring the truly global nature of its audience.
