Alexandra Burke, former X Factor winner gives a candid look into her chaotic, yet fulfilling life on tour with her two young children and four dogs, per huffingtonpost.co.uk. In a recent interview, the singer and musical theatre star shares how her days now start at 4:30am with potty training and a “thousand-miles-an-hour” pace.
Life on the road, she explains, is “so very different” from her previous tours. Instead of eight to 10 hours of sleep, she’s now juggling interviews, gym sessions, and performances with trips to trampoline parks and family time. Despite the non-stop schedule, she says she “wouldn’t have it any other way,” feeling “very blessed” to have her family with her.
Burke, who rose to fame after winning The X Factor in 2008 and famously duetting with Beyoncé, also reflects on her time on the show. While some former contestants have been critical of their experiences with the Syco machine, Burke expresses “fond memories,” crediting the show for her nearly 17-year career. She attributes her ability to navigate the industry to the guidance of her late mother, Melissa Bell, a veteran vocalist who taught her to “speak up” and stay positive.
The artiste, who is currently starring as Morticia in the UK tour of The Addams Family, admits it’s her most challenging role yet. She’s had to learn to transition from her naturally energetic self to the calm, deadpan matriarch. Burke also confirms that her long-awaited fourth album, a return to her pop roots, is on the way, filled with positive, upbeat music she hopes will “uplift” listeners.
