2 Chainz premieres short film ‘Red Clay,’ co-written with Omar Epps

2 Chainz is venturing into cinema with his new short film, “Red Clay,” co-written with actor Omar Epps. The film, reports variety.com, will premiere at the Atlanta Film Festival on May 3.

“Red Clay” tells the story of Nook, a teenager navigating a tough upbringing and his mother’s drug addiction, and his friend Bub’s struggles to escape their harsh reality. The film, set in 2003, features Christopher A’mmanuel, Rutina Wesley and Jaylan Ragin.

According to the hip-hop star, the film is an extension of his music’s themes of resilience and overcoming adversity. Epps hopes the film inspires conversations about trauma and compassion in black and brown communities.

The short film is directed by Christopher Nolan Jones, who won best short film and the Georgia Short Award at the 2023 Atlanta Film Festival for Glitter Ain’t Gold.
