Mario is set to release his first album in six years, “Glad You Came,” on December 13, via New Citizen/Epic Records, per billboard.com. The album, executive-produced by Grammy-winning songwriter James Fauntleroy, promises to bring a fresh, retro-futuristic take on classic R&B.
In an exclusive interview, Mario shared that the project was inspired by his personal experiences with love and imagination, stating that it embodies “intimacy and imagination” while staying true to the art of R&B. The collaboration with Fauntleroy allowed Mario to explore new musical textures, delivering a vulnerable yet confident sound.
The singer has kept busy leading up to the release. He recently performed at Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday tour stop in Los Angeles and made a surprise appearance in Toronto at Drake’s Nostalgia event. Next year, Mario will hit the road with Mary J. Blige and Ne-Yo on the For My Fans Tour, kicking off in January.
Fans of Mario’s R&B classics like “Let Me Love You” are eager to hear the new direction the artist takes with “Glad You Came”.
