Ursula K. Le Guin’s home becomes writers residency

The legacy of renowned author Ursula K. Le Guin is to be honoured in a unique way as her former home in Portland, Oregon, transforms into a haven for contemporary writers, per bookriot.com. Literary Arts revealed plans for the Ursula K. Le Guin Writers Residency, following a generous donation from Le Guin’s family.

The house, where Le Guin penned her iconic works, will serve as a space for writers to draw inspiration from her creative energy. Theo Downes-Le Guin, her son and literary executor, fondly recalls the sanctity of his mother’s writing room and aims to preserve its essence for future generations of writers.

While the residency aims to uphold Le Guin’s legacy, it seeks to foster inclusivity and creativity. Prospective residents will be selected through a rigorous process overseen by an advisory council comprising literary experts and a Le Guin family member.

The residency, designed to be year-round, encourages writers to engage with the local literary community while respecting the spirit of Le Guin’s vision. With a focus on diversity and dedication to the craft, the Ursula K. Le Guin Writers Residency aspires to nurture the next generation of literary voices.
