Open Society Initiative For West Africa Calls For Essential Stories Submissions

Whilst earlier in 2020, there was talk of life post-pandemic, there is now a growing consensus that COVID-19 is here to stay for the foreseeable future, and we must collectively re-imagine a future with COVID-19.

After documenting and disseminating the real stories behind the pandemic within West Africa through our Essential Stories initiative, OSIWA is inviting all creatives and content creators from the sub-region to join us on a journey of imagining and developing a series of what life beyond 2021 would look like.

We are seeking bold ideas that would challenge our everyday thinking and understanding of how we imagine a world living with COVID would look like. Submissions could range from photography to painting, poetry to short stories.

Submissions will be disseminated via social media and other web platforms and will be curated for multiple exhibitions over the course of the year.

Who can apply?

The call for submission targets creatives and content creators from several West African countries (Benin, Côte d’ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone).

How to participate?

Complete the submission form and send to communication@osiwa.org by the stated deadline. All selected applicants will be notified of their selection. Download the Submission Form

Submission Deadline: February 28, 2021 by midnight (GMT)
