Zephyr Books, the children’s imprint of Head of Zeus, a UK-based publishing company, has acquired two “stunning” young adult novels by Zimbabwean author Blessing Musariri.
The books, according to The Bookseller, are standalone novels, and no details about the plot or release date have been revealed yet.
Zephyr Books was launched in 2017 with the aim of creating a bespoke list of beautiful books from the most talented authors around the world. The imprint has published a number of acclaimed children’s books, including The Girl Who Speaks Bear and The House with Chicken Legs by Sophie Anderson.
The acquisition of her two YA novels is said to be a major coup for Zephyr Books. The books are described as “stunning,” and are sure to be eagerly anticipated by fans of young adult fiction.
Musariri is a Zimbabwean author who has written young adult novels, essays, and short stories. She co-authored the young adult novel My Totem Came Calling, which is set in Zimbabwe and follows a young woman who starts seeing a zebra that no one else can see. Musariri has also written All That It Ever Meant, a young adult novel that deals with family, grief, ghosts and mystery. Her writing has been described as “clever” and “compelling,” and she is considered a masterful new voice from Africa.
