Yngwie Malmsteen has announced a new studio album, “Hell or High Water,” due for release on November 13 via Music Theories Recordings/Artone Label Group, and shared the lead single “Now or Never,” along with the album artwork and track list, according to consequence.net.
The LP is Malmsteen’s first studio album in roughly five years, following 2021’s Parabellum, marking the longest gap between records in his 40‑plus‑year career.
Malmsteen said he spent eight months writing the new material during the pandemic, producing some 80–90 finished tracks before selecting the strongest for the record.
“Now or Never” is described as a neo‑classical metal track that emphasises melody and a taut heavy riff while including several virtuosic guitar passages. The album closes with a song called “Father,” written in tribute to Malmsteen’s father, who died last year. Malmsteen said he wanted that track to convey the emotion he felt for his father and referenced a belief that strong feeling produces strong music.
Hell or High Water tracklist: 01. Now Or Never; 02. Am Caprice/Hell Or High Water; 03. (He Is) Living A Lie; 04. Antikythera; 05. (On The) Battlefield; 06. Beyond Zeta Reticuli; 07. Prestissimo In Bm/Adagio; 08. Eye For An Eye; 09. Father.
The album will be released on Music Theories Recordings in partnership with Artone Label Group. A music video for “Now or Never” is available alongside the announcement, and pre‑orders have opened.
