Why Jennifer Hudson says her talk show is the perfect fit

Since launching her talk show in September 2022, singer and actress Jennifer Hudson has embraced her new role as host, saying it’s the perfect job for her.

In a recent interview with actress Viola Davis cited by music-news.com, the 43-year-old explained that her decision to become a talk show host was inspired by her lifelong passion for conversation. Hudson shared that her family, known for their lively discussions, helped shape her into a natural conversationalist.

“If we ain’t singing you down, we are talking you down,” she told Davis. “Don’t none of us shut up. So, it’s just my nature.”

Hudson, a Grammy and Oscar winner, felt that her career, which primarily involved singing songs and portraying characters, hadn’t given the public a chance to get to know the real her. She saw the talk show as an opportunity to be authentic.

“I felt like the talk show gave me space and a place to be just Jennifer, Jenny Kate from the South Side of Chicago,” she said.

In addition to sharing her own personality, Hudson revealed that she loves listening to her guests and learning from their experiences.

“I’m a listener, and I’m also inspired by hearing other people’s stories and perspectives,” she explained. “There’s a lot of things I don’t know about, but I get to learn it through my guests, so I’m inspired by all of that.”

The show has featured a number of A-list guests, including Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Samuel L. Jackson.
