ART X Talks: Sir The Evolution Has Begun.

Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana, Lemi Ghariokwu, Opal Tometi

Both Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana and Lemi Ghariokwu have used their creative expressions to comment on social challenges in Nigeria, and to imagine possibilities for change. A recent example was Falz’s, This is Nigeria (2018), which was shown at the Palais de Tokyo in an exhibition of contemporary art sourced from several prominent cities, of which Lagos was one.
In this talk, the two creatives will speak with Nigerian-American Opal Tometi, a co-founder of the Black Lives Matter movement who recently interviewed Falz for Diaspora Rising. The latter is a new platform that aims to engage the African Diaspora in critical issues on the continent.
The conversation will be moderated by acclaimed film director, Jade Osiberu, and consider the power of creative expression to encourage social transformation by unabashedly and tactfully commenting on the present, in publicly accessible spaces.
