‘This Is How A Fire Burns’ exhibition opens at Kokopelli Gallery

Kokopelli Gallery is set to unveil a powerful exhibition that promises to spark conversations and ignite emotions. “This Is How A Fire Burns,” featuring works by four contemporary artists, will open its doors to the public on October 6, running through October 25, according to a statement.

The group exhibition showcases works by Adubi Mydaz, Adulphina Imuede, Timi Kakandar and Rachel Seidu. Each artist brings a unique perspective to the collection, exploring themes of human emotion, connection and transformation through their distinctive styles.

Visitors to the gallery will encounter 12 artworks accompanied by a series of evocative photographs. The pieces range from bold, colourful canvases to intricate symbolic representations, all designed to resonate with the intensity of life’s experiences.

“This exhibition is more than just a visual display,” says the statement by Kokopelli Gallery. “It’s a visceral journey through the complexities of the human experience, balancing moments of chaos with periods of calm reflection.”

The exhibition’s title, “This Is How A Fire Burns,” serves as a metaphor for the unpredictable nature of change. Fire, traditionally seen as both a destructive and renewing force, becomes a central theme throughout the show. The artists embrace this duality, using their craft to explore the process of transformation and rebirth.

Kokopelli Gallery, established in 2021, has quickly become known for its innovative approach to showcasing contemporary art. The multi-roomed setting includes a dedicated meditation space called The Grotto, offering visitors a unique, immersive experience.

“We’ve created a platform where storytelling through art takes centre stage,” the statement explains further. “This exhibition exemplifies our commitment to fostering dialogue and presenting works that challenge and inspire.”

“This Is How A Fire Burns,” which runs from October 6 to 25, at Kokopelli Gallery, 17 Ademola Street, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria, is expected to draw art enthusiasts from across Lagos and beyond.

For those seeking a transformative art experience, Kokopelli Gallery offers a fiery journey through the landscape of human emotion and resilience.
