he Nigeria Prize for Literature has announced the commencement of submissions for the 2024 edition. This prestigious award, sponsored by Nigeria LNG Limited, seeks to recognise and honour the author of the best book by a Nigerian writer. The prize, which rotates among four literary genres—prose fiction, poetry, drama and children’s literature—will focus on Children’s Literature this year.
Authors are invited to submit their entries accompanied by an application form available online at www.thenigeriaprizes.org. Completed forms should be printed and submitted along with twelve (12) copies of the entry and an e-copy, along with evidence of Nigerian citizenship. Entries may be submitted by either the author or publisher to Nigeria LNG Limited’s External Relations Division by the deadline of Tuesday, April 2,2024.
Only published works will be considered, and each author may submit only one entry. Unpublished works and books published before 2021 will not be accepted. Additionally, entries from members of the Advisory Board Panel of Judges and their families, as well as staff of Nigeria LNG Limited and their families are ineligible.
A distinguished Panel of Judges, appointed by the Advisory Board for Literature, will oversee the evaluation process. Chaired by Prof. Saleh Abdu, the panel includes esteemed literary figures such as Prof. Vicky Sylvester and Dr. Igudia Osarobu. Dr. Christopher Okemwa will serve as the International Consultant.
The judges, chosen for their extensive experience and national and international recognition, will ensure a fair and rigorous selection process.
The winner of The Nigeria Prize for Literature 2024 will be announced and presented with a cash prize of USD 100,000.00 in October 2024. The outcome of the process, approved by the Advisory Board, will be final.
All submissions must be received by Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Late entries will not be considered.
