Shakira has announced a collaboration with Burna Boy for “Dai Dai,” the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, per abcnews.com.
A one-minute teaser clip released on May 7 features the singer at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, with the full track scheduled for release on May 14.

The teaser video depicts Shakira performing on the pitch alongside a troupe of dancers. The lyrics, performed in English with harmonised accompaniment, focus on themes of resilience and belonging. This marks a return to the global football stage for the singer, who previously provided the 2010 World Cup anthem “Waka Waka (This Time For Africa).”

The 2026 tournament is set to begin on June 11 at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, where Mexico will face South Africa. The competition will conclude with the final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on July 19.
“Dai Dai” serves as the primary FIFA anthem, distinct from other commercial releases associated with the tournament. This includes Coca-Cola’s official campaign track, a reimagining of Van Halen’s “Jump” featuring J Balvin, Travis Barker and Steve Vai. That version incorporates Brazilian funk and Spanish verses to reflect the “passion for fútbol.”
Shakira’s involvement continues a long-standing tradition of high-profile musical collaborations for the FIFA World Cup. Her previous contributions have become some of the most-streamed sporting anthems in history, highlighting the tournament’s strategy of blending Latin American influence with global genres like Afrobeats.
