Same OG & David Nkennor release landmark ‘Healing Streams’ collaborative album

Nigerian gospel artists Same OG and David Nkennor released their collaborative album, Healing Streams, on all digital streaming platforms on May 15.

The project represents a rare full-length partnership between the AfroGospel and traditional worship genres, aiming to bridge diverse creative expressions within the local music landscape.

The album launch follows a high-profile listening event held at FourPoints by Sheraton in Victoria Island, Lagos. The gathering brought together music executives, media leaders and artists to discuss the business and future of gospel music in Africa. Panelists included industry figures such as Uzor Daniels of Sony Music Publishing and artists Nosa Omoregie and Gaise Baba.

A central feature of the launch was an immersive silent disco session, allowing attendees to engage with the record’s lyrical content and production through headsets. Industry observers noted the project’s intent to dismantle creative silos, positioning the collaboration as a reference point for future cross-genre works on the continent.

Same OG, who has previously challenged industry norms by hosting gospel events in non-traditional venues, joins Nkennor in this effort to merge urban sounds with spiritual themes. The artists stated that the body of work serves as a declaration that contemporary evolution and traditional ministry can coexist.

Healing Streams is now available for global consumption, concluding a campaign focused on innovation and cultural impact within the Nigerian music scene.
