Rema is making waves once again with his latest release, “Baby (Is It A Crime),” a sultry track that samples Sade’s iconic 1985 hit, “Is It A Crime?”
Uproxx reports that the Nigerian star seamlessly blends Sade Adu’s timeless vocals with a pulsating Afrobeat rhythm, creating a track that’s both nostalgic and fresh.
The Afrobeats sensation teased the single in November, sharing a snippet on social media and cleverly hinting at the inspiration behind the song by posting a photo of himself purchasing Sade’s Promise album. The track has since become a fan favourite, showcasing Rema’s ability to bridge generations of African music legends.

While it’s unclear if “Baby (Is It A Crime)” will be part of a larger project, Rema’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down. Coming off the success of his 2024 album Heis, which featured hits like “Benin Boys” and “HEHEHE,” the artiste is poised for an even bigger 2025. Fans were also teased with a potential J Hus feature last year, though it remains to be seen if the British rapper will appear on a remix.
With “Baby (Is It A Crime),” Rema continues to solidify his status as one of Africa’s most innovative artistes, paying tribute to the past while pushing the genre forward.
