Rebel Wilson unveils ‘Borat’ star as co-star in upcoming memoir, elicits response

Rebel Wilson, the renowned Australian actress and comedian, has stirred controversy with her recent revelation on social media, per etonline.com

In a bold move, Wilson took to Instagram Stories on Monday to unveil the name of an A-list co-star whom she labels as an “a**hole” in her forthcoming memoir, “Rebel Rising.”

It turns out the target of Wilson’s candid criticism is none other than Sacha Baron Cohen, the acclaimed actor famous for his roles in films like Borat and Brüno

According to unilad.com, Sacha Baron Cohen has since responded to Wilson’s claims. The Borat star and Wilson worked together on 2016 film, The Brothers Grimsby.

The outlet reports that a spokesperson for Baron Cohen told The Hollywood Reporter: “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby.”

In her Instagram post, Wilson expressed her determination not to be silenced or intimidated by legal threats or public relations manoeuvres. She emphasised that the portrayal of Baron Cohen in her memoir is confined to a single chapter, titled Chapter 23.

This revelation adds fuel to past controversies involving Wilson and Baron Cohen, including Wilson’s accusations during a 2014 radio show appearance of Baron Cohen pressuring her for nude scenes and other inappropriate requests during the filming of The Brothers Grimsby.

“Rebel Rising” is due for release on April 2.
