The Pan African Writers Association (PAWA) has announced The Atukwei Okai African Prize for Poetry, which it stated is in honour of its pioneer Secretary General, Prof Atukwei Okai (March 15, 1941 to July 13, 2018).
According to a statement by PAWA’s Secretary General, Dr Wale Okediran, the Prize, which will be for poetry collections published by individual authors between 2018 to 2021 will be in five categories of Arabic, English, French, Kiswahili and Portuguese.
“Entries, which are open to African Writers at home and in the diaspora, must be in digital form and should be sent by email to pawahouse@gmail.com,” the statement said.
Entries will be judged by individual judges in each category of Arabic, English, French, Kiswahili and Portuguese.
Prizes of $2,000 per category will be awarded on March 15, 2022, the birthday of Prof Atukwei Okai.
Deadline for Submissions is October 31 2021.
