Paul Reubens fondly remembered by celebrities in heartfelt tributes

Beloved actor and comedian Paul Reubens, known for his iconic character Pee-wee Herman, passed away on Sunday night at 70 after a private battle with cancer. 

Celebrities and fans took to social media to pay tribute to Reubens and his contributions to comedy. Director Tim Burton, who directed the 1985 film Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, shared a photo of himself with Reubens on Instagram and wrote, “Shocked and saddened. I’ll never forget how Paul helped me at the beginning of my career. It would not have happened without his support. He was a great artist. I’ll miss him”. Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel wrote on social media, “Paul Reubens was like no one else — a brilliant and original comedian who made kids and their parents laugh at the same time. He never forgot a birthday and shared his genuine delight for silliness with everyone he met. My family and I will miss him”

Cher shared a quote from Shakespeare’s Hamlet in her tribute, while others, like k.d. lang, Guillermo del Toro, Mark Hamill and Conan O’Brien, shared heartfelt messages about the impact he had on their lives.
