American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo has announced that her third studio album, titled *You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love,* is scheduled for global release on June 12, per variety.com.
Published under Geffen Records, the announcement followed a strategic social media blackout and weeks of cryptic teasers appearing in major cities, including London and Los Angeles.

The 21-year-old artist confirmed the news via Instagram, sharing the official cover art which features her positioned upside-down on a swing. The project marks a continued collaboration with producer Dan Nigro, the creative partner behind her previous multi-platinum records, Sour (2021) and Guts (2023).
The announcement follows several weeks of fan speculation sparked by aesthetic shifts on Rodrigo’s official website and local installations. These included a mural in Los Angeles and a physical lock found in London engraved with the word “April.” Despite the album’s title, Rodrigo previously told British Vogue that writing from a “joyful place” presented a unique creative challenge, though she ultimately described the new tracks as “sad love songs” defined by themes of yearning and cinematic intimacy.
Rodrigo rose to international prominence with her debut single “Drivers License” and has since become a fixture on the global festival circuit, including recent headline performances at Glastonbury and Governors Ball. The new album is currently available for pre-order.
Speaking on the record’s emotional direction, Rodrigo noted that her favourite romantic songs possess “a tinge of fear or yearning,” adding that it was a “creative challenge to write from a joyful place” compared to her previous works.
