Nicole Kidman’s production company Blossom Films and Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories will adapt Gordon Reece’s 2010 young adult novel Mice (A&U) into a feature film.
Mice is a psychological thriller that follows 16-year-old Shelley and her mother who, after moving to the country to escape bullying and trauma, are menaced by an intruder in their house. Publisher A&U told Books+Publishing the film tie-in edition of the book is being repositioned as an adult novel.
Kidman and Papandrea will produce the film alongside Blossom Films’ Per Saari and Made Up Stories’ Steve Hutensky and Jodi Matterson. Jeanne Snow of Made Up Stories will executive produce and Harriet Warner, creator and writer of the Amazon Prime Video series Tell Me Your Secrets, will adapt the screenplay.
Reece recently told Deadline, “I’m honoured that two such outstanding production companies have chosen to adapt Mice for the screen. I couldn’t have asked for a better team than Nicole, Per, Bruna, Jodi and Steve, and, with Harriet on writing duties, it’s a dream team if ever there was one!”
