New single ‘SYSTEM’ bridges American and Nigerian rap scenes

Acclaimed New York-based DJ and producer TGUT has teamed up with Nigerian rap sensation PsychoYP to release their new single, “SYSTEM.” The track, which dropped Friday, July 19, is being hailed as a groundbreaking fusion of American and Nigerian rap styles.

“SYSTEM” showcases TGUT’s signature production skills, honed through collaborations with hip-hop heavyweights like Meg Thee Stallion and A$AP Ferg, combined with PsychoYP’s unique rap-sung trap style. The result is a fresh, alternative sound that industry insiders are already predicting could become a summer hit.

TGUT, known for his work with artistes like Tyga and Fivio Foreign, expressed his excitement about the collaboration. “This is an important record for bridging the gap between American and Nigerian Rap,” he stated. “Working with PsychoYP has been incredible, and I’m excited to share what we’ve created with the world.”

PsychoYP, hailing from Abuja, Nigeria, has been making waves in the African music scene since his debut EP Lost In The Sauce in 2016. His subsequent releases, including the chart-topping mixtapes “YP Season” and its sequel, have earned him critical acclaim and multiple award nominations across Africa.

This collaboration marks a significant step in the growing cross-pollination between American and African hip-hop scenes. As streaming platforms continue to break down geographical barriers, partnerships like this one between TGUT and PsychoYP are becoming increasingly common and important in shaping the future of global hip-hop.

“SYSTEM” is now available on all major streaming platforms here. Music fans and industry watchers alike will be keen to see how this transatlantic collaboration resonates with audiences on both sides of the Atlantic and beyond.
