Apple Music, the popular streaming service, has selected Morravey, a rising Nigerian singer, as its Africa Rising artist for November.
This initiative is dedicated to nurturing the careers of up-and-coming artistes from the African continent by featuring their music on the platform. Morravey now joins the ranks of other talented artistes, such as Lojay from Nigeria and Gyakie from Ghana, who have benefited from this program in previous years.
Morravey’s most recent releases, along with tracks from Africa’s most promising new talents, can be found on the Apple Music Africa Rising Playlist.
Expressing her gratitude, Morravey stated, “Feeling super blessed and thankful to have been chosen as the Africa Rising Artist for November. I remember growing up and being inspired by other amazing women in music, to think that now I get a chance to inspire someone else, another young girl, is surreal.”
Hailing from Port Harcourt, Morravey, an Afropop singer and songwriter, gained prominence after collaborating with her label boss, Davido, on “In The Garden,” featured on his Timeless album. Her music reflects the spirit of resilience, love and celebration found in the city.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, Morravey delved seriously into music, initially using gospel songs as a foundation and blending them with instrumentals from secular tracks. Her fan base expanded as she shared cover videos, catching the attention of industry heavyweights, including Davido.
Morravey recently launched her EP, Ravi, which comprises five tracks spanning genres like R&B, pop and Afrobeats, catering to a wide range of music enthusiasts.
This recognition from Apple Music promises to further elevate Morravey’s burgeoning career and bring her unique sound to a global audience.
