Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have revealed that their next project will be a crime thriller for Netflix titled “Animals”. The project is moving quickly, as per The Hollywood Reporter, with cameras set to start rolling in Los Angeles in March.
Written by Connor McIntyre and Billy Ray, “Animals” is said to follow a mayoral candidate and his wife whose son has been kidnapped. With enemies surrounding them, the couple must get their hands dirty to save their son.
Affleck will direct, with Damon starring.
Damon and Affleck have been making movies together for decades, most recently collaborating on AIR.
The film tells the story of sports marketing executive Sonny Vaccaro, who led Nike in its pursuit of Michael Jordan.
Damon starred as Vaccaro, with Affleck directing and appearing as Phil Knight. Other cast members included Jason Bateman, Chris Messina, Viola Davis, Julius Tennon, Chris Tucker and Matthew Maher.
The film was a critical and commercial hit and secured three nominations at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards for Best Acting Ensemble, Best Original Screenplay and Best Editing.
Further casting information for “Animals” is yet to be announced.
