After years of public jabs and icy tension, music icons Madonna and Elton John have officially buried the hatchet—and a potential collaboration may be on the horizon, according to people.com.
The “Material Girl” singer revealed the heartwarming reconciliation in an Instagram post on Monday, April 7, following John’s Saturday Night Live performance with Brandi Carlile on April 5.
“We Finally Buried the Hatchet!!!” Madonna, 66, wrote, recalling how seeing John perform in Detroit as a teenager “changed the course” of her life. “Watching him helped me understand it was OK to be different—to stand out.”
Despite her admiration, their feud began in 2002 when Elton John called Madonna’s “Die Another Day” the “worst Bond tune ever.” Over the years, he also accused her of lip-syncing, leading to years of tension.
But when Madonna learned John was performing on SNL, she decided to confront him backstage. “The first thing out of his mouth was, ‘Forgive Me,'” she shared. “Within minutes, we were hugging.”
Elton John, 78, responded in the comments, apologising for his past remarks and praising Madonna’s trailblazing career and AIDS activism in the ’80s. “Thank you for forgiving me and my big mouth,” he wrote.
Now, the two legends may even collaborate—Elton John revealed he wrote a song for her. “It was like everything came full circle!” Madonna gushed.
Could this be the start of a new musical era? Fans are already buzzing.
