Laura Lynch, founding member of The Dixie Chicks, dies in tragic Texas crash at 65

Laura Lynch, a founding member of the iconic country group, The Dixie Chicks, lost her life in a devastating head-on collision on US 62 in El Paso, Texas. 

The accident occurred around 5:45 pm local time on Friday, as Lynch was eastbound and another vehicle attempted a risky pass on the undivided highway. 

The 65-year-old musician was pronounced dead at the scene, and authorities reported she was not wearing a seatbelt. 

The driver of the other vehicle survived with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The band, now known as The Chicks, expressed deep sorrow, highlighting Lynch’s vibrant spirit and significant contributions to their early success. Lynch’s influence as an upright bass player and singer shaped the band’s trajectory until her departure, after which Natalie Maines assumed her role. 

The music community mourns the loss of a talent whose legacy will forever resonate.
