Bestselling author Dorothy Koomson has joined the inaugural advisory board for independent press Jacaranda Books, according to an article from The Bookseller. Jacaranda Books is known for its focus on diversity and inclusion in the UK publishing industry, including its #TwentyIn2020 initiative, which aimed to publish 20 books by black British writers in one year.
Koomson, who has been described as “one of Britain’s biggest selling black authors of adult fiction,” will work closely with the senior management of Jacaranda Books to help them grow and develop their publishing strategy. The author said she was honoured to be part of the advisory board and that she was excited to work with Jacaranda Books, which she called “a trailblazer in the industry.”
She also said she had seen the plans that Jacaranda Books had for the future and that they would continue to go from strength to strength.
Koomson is the author of 16 novels, including The Friend, The Ice Cream Girls, and My Best Friend’s Girl, and is also a journalist and a screenwriter.
