iREP Documentary Film Festival 2025 opens call for documentary filmmakers

i-Represent International Documentary Film Festival (iREP) has announced its call for entries for the 2025 edition, inviting documentary filmmakers from around the world to submit their works.

The deadline for submissions via FilmFreeway is January 31, 2025.

Themed as a celebration of socially relevant storytelling, iREP serves as a platform for aspiring and established filmmakers to showcase documentaries that highlight and address issues impacting Africa.

The festival seeks to foster cross-cultural creativity and provide a forum for innovation and dialogue in documentary filmmaking.

Organised by renowned industry figures Femi Odugbemi and Jahman Anikulapo, the event will run from March 27 to 30 at the historic Freedom Park in Lagos, Nigeria.

Submissions must adhere to strict guidelines: only documentary films are accepted, and the content must explore or celebrate African experiences. Non-English films must include standard English subtitles. Additionally, filmmakers are required to provide a synopsis (450 words max), a film poster or frame grab and full details about the production.

While participation is free, filmmakers are reminded that iREP does not offer screening fees. Instead, the festival promises an opportunity to engage with global audiences, explore emerging trends and contribute to the growing conversation around documentary storytelling.
