Harteez opens up on ambition & faith in debut EP “Menace”

Lagos-based street-hop artist Harteez has released his debut EP, Menace, a deeply personal five-track project that confronts the complexities of ambition, faith, and survival on the streets of Nigeria.

Shaped by the realities of his upbringing, Harteez has steadily built a reputation through collaborations with high-profile acts including Seyi Vibez and the late Mohbad. His distinctive Afro Adura sound , a blend of Afrobeats and street-prayer sensibility, has earned him a loyal following drawn to his unflinching storytelling.

Menace represents his most complete artistic statement to date, traversing the emotional terrain between darkness and deliverance across five tracks.

The EP opens with “30,” an introspective record in which Harteez takes stock of his life and the road that brought him here. The mood then shifts as he plunges into the darker side of success on “Anti Christ,” a brooding examination of the temptations wrought by money, power, and the relentless pressures of the digital age.

“Game Over” arrives as a bold declaration of confidence and independence, with Harteez asserting his growth and street credibility without apology.

The emotional centrepiece of the project is “Grace,” a gratitude-filled offering in which Harteez reflects on divine providence over his life. “It’s the grace of God — see the life I’m living, it’s the grace of God,” he sings, in what stands as the EP’s most vulnerable moment. The project closes on a tender note with “Ayinke,” a heartfelt tribute of devotion and admiration.

With Menace, Harteez proves himself an artist of genuine depth and duality — unafraid to confront life’s harshest truths whilst celebrating its victories, however modest they may be.

Menace is available to stream now on all major platforms.
