Harrison Ford delivered a touching acceptance speech for the Career Achievement Award that saw him credit his wife Calista Flockhart as his strongest rock at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday night, per people.com,

A montage of the Hollywood legend’s most iconic roles – from Han Solo blasting his way across the galaxy to Indy cracking the whip against Nazis – had barely ended when the 81-year-old actor’s voice hitched with emotion.

“I’d like to thank my lovely wife, Calista Flockhart,” Ford began, his eyes welling up. “She supports me when I need a lot of support. And I need a lot of support.”

He paused, visibly struggling to compose himself as the star-studded audience erupted in applause. After a deep breath, he managed a choked “Thank you,” the simple words carrying a weight of love and appreciation that resonated throughout the room.

Ford’s heartfelt tribute offered a rare glimpse into the notoriously private couple’s relationship. Married since 2010, they’ve kept their romance largely out of the spotlight. But in that vulnerable moment on stage, Ford bared his soul, acknowledging the unwavering support Flockhart has provided throughout his extraordinary career.

Presented with the award by his frequent collaborator, director Steven Spielberg, Ford also expressed gratitude to his colleagues, mentors, and, of course, the fans who have cheered him on for over five decades.

“It’s been a long road,” he admitted, a hint of a smile breaking through the tears. “But it’s been a good one.”

Ford’s emotional speech was a poignant reminder that even the toughest heroes need a shoulder to lean on. And for Harrison Ford, that shoulder belongs to Calista Flockhart, the woman who makes the galaxy’s greatest adventurer feel like he’s right at home.

The Critics Choice Awards, honouring excellence in film and television, were held on January 14, 2024. Ford’s tribute to Flockhart stole the show, leaving hearts warm and reminding everyone that even the biggest stars find strength in the love of their loved ones.
