Fox has released the first trailer for its 12-episode reboot of Baywatch, with Stephen Amell starring as Captain Hobie Buchan non, per hypebeast.com.
The Los Angeles-filmed drama is scheduled to premiere in January 2027 as part of the network’s 2026-2027 season.
The three-minute trailer opens with Amell leading a high-stakes ocean rescue after a mid-air collision between an aircraft and a parasail. He plays an adult Hobie Buchannon, the son of Mitch Buchannon, who now serves as an active Baywatch captain.
The story follows Hobie as his life is disrupted by the arrival of his long-lost daughter Charlie, played by Jessica Belkin, who seeks to join the lifeguard team and continue the family legacy.
The revival is co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, with Matt Nix serving as showrunner. It is directed in part by McG.
The ensemble cast includes Shay Mitchell, Brooks Nader, Hassie Harrison, Livvy Dunne, Noah Beck, David Chokachi and Thaddeus LaGrone. Ashley Moore and Luke Eisner will appear in recurring roles. The trailer also confirms a cameo from Megan Thee Stallion.
Fox announced the reboot as part of its forthcoming broadcast slate. The series will return the franchise to its original beachside rescue format with a new generation of lifeguards.
The original Baywatch ran from 1989 to 2001 and became one of the most watched television series in the world, launching the careers of David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.
The new series marks its first major network revival.
