Faber secures rights to Lucy Caldwell’s short story collection “Openings”

Faber has announced the acquisition of world all-language rights to publish “Openings,” a forthcoming short story collection by acclaimed author Lucy Caldwell. The book is set to be released on May 16, 2024, and will include an exclusive edition for No Alibis bookshop in Belfast.

Lucy Caldwell, the recipient of the 2021 BBC National Short Story Award, is no stranger to the world of storytelling. With her new collection, she brings to readers 13 exquisitely crafted stories that, as described in the synopsis, “pulse with possibility and illuminate those fleeting but recognisable moments of heartbreak and hope that can change the course of a life.”

“Openings” explores a range of themes, delving into the intricacies of motherhood, marriage, love, and longing. With her masterful storytelling, Caldwell promises to take readers on a journey through the complex and deeply human experiences that shape our lives.

Lucy Caldwell is a highly regarded author, known for her novels, stage plays, radio dramas and previous collections of short stories, including Multitudes and Intimacies. Her literary prowess has earned her recognition, including being elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2018.
