Ella Emhoff lands her first magazine cover

Ella Emhoff makes her magazine cover debut for Dust’s Spring 2021 issue.

Hours after making her runway debut for Proenza Schouler at New York Fashion Week, newly minted IMG model Ella Emhoff has landed her first magazine cover.

The 21-year-old stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris and daughter of Doug Emhoff fronts Berlin-based art and fashion glossy Dust’s Spring 2021 issue, dressed in a pastel patchwork knit jacket of her own design.

During her shoot, the Parsons student and so-called “first daughter of Bushwick” also sported designer duds from brands including Balenciaga, Prada and Miu Miu, while posing in a Brooklyn studio where she once worked.

In the accompanying interview, which was conducted by artist Marina Abramovic over Zoom, Emhoff spoke about her look from Joe Biden’s inauguration, an embellished Miu Miu coat worn atop a ruffled Batsheva dress.

“The choice was honestly very spur-of-the moment. Personally, I like the cross between old and new. I love the doily-type collars, I obviously love knits, I love tartans, I love classic embroidery, and I wanted to make sure I stayed true to myself and keep that alive,” she explained.

The budding fashion designer, whose most recent collection of knitwear sold out in a matter of hours on Thursday, also spoke about her love for the craft. “It’s almost a selfish act; a cathartic experience; my therapy,” she said of knitting.
