Texas-based Nigerian poet and pianist Echezonachukwu Nduka has collaborated with Andrew Egbuchiem to produce a 14-track album titled “The African Serenades.”
The album, which features African art music literatures for voice and piano, will be released on July 21, 2023, by Centaur Records. The album will be available on all streaming platforms, and the CD will be distributed in stores.
The album, according to a statement, will take listeners on a journey through reflection, awakening, dance and celebration.
Nduka performs on all tracks, while Andrew Chukwuka Egbuchiem performs on all except track five, which features fellow musician Jasmine Thomas. This is Nduka’s third musical recorded project and body of work. In 2018, he released his first EP, Choreowaves, a collection of African piano music, and in 2019, he released Nine Encores, a blend of African and Western piano music.
Egbuchiem is a countertenor who made his debut in the performance of Handel’s Judas Maccabeus and has been a regular soloist with the Brooklyn Philharmonia Chorus.
