Blackpink becomes 1st K-pop band to headline major UK festival at BST Hyde Park

K-pop girl group Blackpink made history on Sunday, July 2nd, as the first-ever Korean group to headline a major UK festival. 

The group performed at BST Hyde Park in London as part of their 2023 world tour. The quartet, made up of Rosé, Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa, put on a spectacular show with a high level of production that was unmatched by any other group. Despite a delayed start, the group dominated the stage with pyrotechnics and precision choreographed dance numbers, beginning with opening number “Pink Venom”.

Fans, known as Blinks, were excitedly singing along to the strong beats and girl-power lyrics, even when Blackpink switched to Korean. The predominantly young audience was a testament to the grip K-Pop and Blackpink have on school-age kids. The group’s signature blend of pop, hip hop and EDM had the sold-out crowd of 65,000 fans screaming for more.

Blackpink’s performance at BST Hyde Park was a history-making spectacle that left fans and critics alike in awe. The group’s star power was on full display, and it’s easy to see why fans are so obsessed with them.
