Cyndi Lauper documentary ‘Let The Canary Sing’ unveils trailer

Paramount+ has unveiled the trailer for an upcoming documentary titled “Let The Canary Sing,” shining a spotlight on the legendary pop icon Cyndi Lauper, per nme.com

Set for release exclusively on Paramount+ on June 4 in the United States and Canada, and on June 5 in several other countries including the UK, Australia and France, the documentary promises an intimate exploration of Lauper’s illustrious career and her impact as an activist for queer and women’s rights.

Directed by Alison Ellwood, “Let The Canary Sing” features archival footage and interviews with Lauper herself, along with insights from other music luminaries such as Boy George and Patti LaBelle. The documentary will be accompanied by a soundtrack showcasing Lauper’s greatest hits, including classics like “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” and “Time After Time.”

In a press statement, Cyndi Lauper expressed her trust in Ellwood’s ability to tell her story honestly, emphasising the importance of authenticity. 

The documentary release will be followed by an “exclusive” greatest hits show at the Royal Albert Hall in London on June 26, marking Lauper’s first UK solo concert in eight years.
