Charlotte Wood will headline the inaugural Literary Salon Series event at regional Victoria’s Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld on Saturday, October 24, per startsat60.com.
Capped at 22 guests, the intimate evening features a conversation between the Booker Prize-shortlisted author and The Monthly editor Michael Williams against the backdrop of the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park.
Wood’s acclaimed works include the 2024 Booker Prize-shortlisted Stone Yard Devotional and Stella Prize-winner The Natural Way of Things.
Williams brings extensive broadcasting and literary programming experience, including former leadership roles at the Sydney Writers’ Festival and Wheeler Centre.
The event builds on the property’s literary heritage, which includes guest room libraries curated by prominent Australian authors and past partnerships with the Dunkeld Writers Festival.
Hotel director and former Melbourne Writers Festival chair John Jerome Myers noted the series extends this publishing alignment.
Weekend packages cost $1,490 per person, covering two nights’ accommodation, Friday dinner at Parker St Project, and Saturday’s salon dinner with matched wines. Further series dates will follow. Bookings are available via royalmail.com.au.
