CCA, Lagos hosts sonic session with LSAC

The Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA, Lagos) is set to host a unique sonic session this Friday, August 29 inviting the public to explore the deeper meaning of listening. The event, titled “Third Listening & Sonic Session with LSAC,” is part of the third edition of The Listening Biennial, a global initiative exploring the art of attentive sound.

Organisers describe the gathering as more than just a musical event, framing it as a “sacred space” to engage with the world beyond the conventional sense of hearing. Drawing inspiration from Yorùbá philosophy, the session emphasises that listening is not merely an auditory act but a spiritual practice—a process of attending, understanding and honouring the presence of others and the environment.

The session encourages attendees to slow down and listen for “the plurality of life-forms and the hidden connections between worlds.” This focus on deep attention and presence is central to the event’s purpose, highlighting the act of listening as a gift offered to one another and the world. The organisers promise a fresh experience, urging participants to go beyond passive hearing and engage with sound in a more profound, intentional way.

Hosted by Tantoloun Productions, the event will take place at the CCA, Lagos in Sabo, Yaba starting at 6pm. The organisers hope the gathering will foster a greater sense of connection and awareness through shared, attentive listening.
