Nigerian writer Tochukwu Emmanuel Okafor must be having a bad week.
His short story, “All Our Lives”, a lyrical treatise about communal hardship rendered in first person plural, winner of the 2018 Short Story Day Africa Prize and shortlisted for this year’s Caine Prize, has been withdrawn from this year’s shortlist.
His short story bore unmistakable similarities in both style and form to Wanderlust, a short story written by Laleh Khadivi and published in 2014.
