Burna Boy wins Best International Act at BET Awards 2023 for 4th time

Nigerian singer Burna Boy has made history by winning the Best International Act award at the BET Awards for the fourth time. 

The BET Awards, which recognise the best performances of the year across music, TV, film and sports, were held on Sunday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Burna Boy beat out fellow nominees Ayra Starr, Central Cee and Stormzy, among others. Chris Brown and Usher tied for the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist award, while SZA and Beyoncé each won four awards. 

The ceremony also celebrated 50 years of hip-hop throughout the live telecast, which featured special musical medleys curated by Kid Capri. The full list of winners is as follows:

Album of the Year: Anyways, Life’s Great, GloRilla Breezy, Chris Brown, God Did, DJ Khaled, Her Loss, Drake & 21 Savage, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, Ice Spice

Best Female Hip Hop Artist: Latto

Best Male Hip Hop Artist: 21 Savage

Best Female R&B/Pop Artist: Coco Jones

Best Male R&B/Pop Artist: Chris Brown and Usher (tie)

Best Collaboration: “Jimmy Cook,” Drake & 21 Savage

Video of the Year: “Wait for U,” Future & Tems

Viewer’s Choice Award: “Jimmy Cook,” Drake & 21 Savage

Best New Artist: Teyana “Spike Tey” Taylor

Best Group: Migos

Best International Act: Burna Boy

Best Actress: Zendaya

Best Actor: Michael B. Jordan

YoungStars Award: Marsai Martin

Best Movie: Judas and the Black Messiah

Sportsman of the Year: LeBron James

Sportswoman of the Year: Naomi Osaka

Humanitarian Award: Chance the Rapper

Lifetime Achievement Award: Busta Rhymes
