Borough Press to publish Adorah Nworah’s debut novel

The Borough Press has landed a “compulsive” and “creepy” literary debut from writer Adorah Nworah.

Editor Ore Agbaje-Williams acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, for House Woman from Ben Fowler at Abner Stein, on behalf of Sharon Pelletier at Dystel, Goderich & Bourret. It will publish in the UK in spring 2023; Unnamed Press will publish in autumn 2022 in the US.

In May Nworah reportedly sold US rights to the novel to Olivia Taylor-Smith of Unnamed Press, an indie publisher based in L.A. Nworah was represented by Sharon Pelletier at Dystel, Goderich & Bourret. Pelletier said the novel is “a work of literary horror” that follows “a young Nigerian woman who hopes marriage will give her a new life in Houston but instead finds herself a prisoner of her very traditional new mother-in-law.”
