Bella Shmurda, independent Afrobeats artiste and Dangbana Republik president, is set to release his highly anticipated EP titled “DND” on July 26. The acronym DND, meaning “do not disturb,” perfectly encapsulates Bella Shmurda’s mindset for 2023. The EP features additional features from Tiwa Savage and Pheelz.
Bella Shmurda has been teasing this new musical universe throughout the year with tracks like “NSV” and “Ara”, which have collectively garnered over 50 million online plays.
The EP’s lead single, “DND”, features renowned afropop artiste Lil Kesh and is produced by Rewardbeatz, known for his work with artists like Davido and Kizz Daniel. The jam fuses afrobeats and amapiano, creating the ideal soundscape for Bella Shmurda’s declaration of not wanting anyone to distract him from his leading lady. Lil Kesh adds his signature style with an exciting guest verse, making the track impossible to skip.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind ‘DND’ and its creation, Bella Shmurda sayss Rewardbeatz crafted the instrumental and recorded a demo in the studio with Lil Kesh.
“Kesh then sent the draft to me for feedback. I listened to it and immediately started recording my thoughts in that moment, and that’s how ‘DND’ was born. The song perfectly captures my current headspace, where I don’t want to be disturbed while I do things my own way,” he adds.
Bella Shmurda is known as ‘The New Voice of the Street’ and has gained musical freedom during his time at Lagos State University, where he developed his unique sound. His music focuses on conscious and relatable afrobeats, drawing inspiration from philosophy, religion and the struggles of the street. Bella Shmurda has achieved numerous milestones, including being a YouTube Foundry alumni, Global Music Awards Africa winner, Headies Award nominee and the second most streamed African artiste on Audiomack.
