Bella Shmurda has paid tribute to the late Afrobeats singer MohBad while vehemently criticising Marlian Records, the label to which MohBad was formerly signed.
MohBad, a rising star in the Nigerian music scene, gained immense popularity with hits like “Ponmo” and “Feel Good.” However, his abrupt departure from Marlian Records in 2022 left fans speculating about the reasons behind it.
Tragically, earlier this month, MohBad passed away unexpectedly, sending shockwaves throughout the music industry. Fans expressed their outrage, directing blame towards both Naira Marley, the founder of Marlian Records, and the label itself. Allegations of mistreatment and hardship that MohBad allegedly endured after leaving the label fueled their anger, leading to a petition with over 126,000 signatures demanding the label’s ban.
Naira Marley responded to the accusations, stating that despite disagreements, he had never wished harm upon MohBad.
Bella Shmurda, unable to remain silent any longer, took to X to express his thoughts. He condemned those who allegedly made MohBad’s life miserable and called for the arrest of Marlian Records members, asserting that Nigerian authorities needed to take action.
In response to mounting pressure, the Lagos State Police Command has formed a special 13-man investigation team to probe the mysterious circumstances surrounding MohBad’s death. Lagos State Police Commissioner Idowu Owohunwa assured the public that justice would prevail, even hinting at INTERPOL involvement to uncover the truth and hold those responsible accountable. The music world watches closely as this tragic saga unfolds.
