A compelling new exhibition, “The Other Order,” is set to open on Saturday, February 7 by 4pm at 9 Tijani Ashogbon Street, Bariga.
Curated by Obiajulu Ozegbe, the showcase delves into the visceral themes of displacement, survival, and the enduring search for belonging within the Nigerian urban landscape.

The exhibition takes its creative cue from the ubiquitous “This House Is Not For Sale” markings found across the country – reimagining them as symbols of cultural resilience rather than mere property notices. Central to the show is Bankole Damilola’s provocative 2023 work, “This Land is Not For Sale,” which anchors a month-long programme of interactive events and dialogues.
Although the opening reception is on Saturday, those unable to attend in person have access to a virtual walkthrough at 3pm GMT+1 on the same day.
On Wednesday, February 11, the exhibition moves into a practical phase. Attendees will use photography and everyday materials to explore personal histories of memory and identity.
A creative laboratory is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, inviting dancers, musicians and visual artists to engage in a collective exchange regarding Lagos’s evolving cultural identity.
The exhibition remains open to the public daily from 10am to 7pm through March 7, 2026.
This project continues apexart’s tradition of supporting site-specific, socially conscious art that challenges mainstream narratives.
