AFRIMA 2025: Fans to crown winners as voting opens Sept 10

The public voting portal for the 2025 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) swings open September 10, giving music fans around the world the power to decide this year’s winners.

The International Committee of AFRIMA, in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC), announced that online voting begins on September 10, 2025, at www.afrima.org and will remain open until Friday, November 28. This critical period leads up to the grand finale in Lagos, Nigeria, where the Main Awards Ceremony will take place.

This year marks a historic milestone for the awards, which received a record-breaking 10,717 entries. After a rigorous 10-day screening by a 13-member international jury, 271 songs from 270 artists earned a total of 378 nominations across 40 categories. These nominees represent all five African regions and the diaspora, showcasing the incredible breadth of talent across the continent. Winners will be determined by a blend of public votes and votes from the AFRIMA Academy, ensuring a fair and balanced outcome.

For music enthusiasts eager to support their favorite artists, the process is straightforward. Visit vote.afrima.org to get started. Returning voters can simply log in with their existing credentials. New users must create an account by providing some basic information, and it’s wise to keep your login details secure for repeat visits.

Upon logging in, you’ll be taken to a personal dashboard that tracks your voting activity. The portal even gives you a unique, shareable URL. Every time someone uses your link to log in and vote, you earn extra vote counts, which you can cast for any artist in any category.

Each account is allocated 40 votes daily, with each vote carrying a value of 100 points. You can spread these votes across nominees in both the Regional and Continental categories. The portal is designed for ease of use, allowing you to browse through nominees—complete with artist names, images, and links to preview their tracks on platforms like YouTube or SoundCloud—before casting your vote with a single click.

The only exception is the Legend Award, which is decided solely by the International Committee of AFRIMA. The entire voting process is audited by a globally recognized auditing firm, guaranteeing the integrity and transparency of the results.

As the voting portal goes live, nominated artistes are taking to social media to celebrate and urge their fans to vote.

Burundian star Sat-B, nominated for Best Male Artiste in Eastern Africa, shared his gratitude on Instagram, writing, “Truly honoured to be nominated at official AFRIMA awards. All is thanks to your love and support. Let’s go together and represent Burundi!”

South African jazz maestro Sibusiso Mash Mashiloane, recognized in the African Jazz category for his track “Kwandebele,” wrote, “Honoured to be nominated among such incredible talent. Grateful to share the spirit of home through sound.”

Moroccan sensation DJ Moh Green also shared a heartfelt message, saying, “I am truly honoured to be nominated. Thank you all for your support over the years — none of this would have been possible without you. From September 10, I’m counting on you. Let’s mobilize, vote together, and bring this one home.”

Meanwhile, labels are celebrating their own. Mavin Records, founded by music mogul Don Jazzy, congratulated its stars Rema, Ayra Starr, and producer Mbryo on their nominations, sharing, “Congratulations to @heisrema, @ayrastarr, and @unusual_mbryo on their AFRIMA nominations. Let’s go, Mavin!”

With the theme “Unstoppable Africa,” AFRIMA 2025 promises to be the biggest celebration of African music yet. Lagos, the host city, will welcome stars and fans for a week-long festival from November 25–30, 2025, featuring events like the AFRIMA Music Village and the Africa Music Business Summit. The festivities will culminate with the main awards ceremony on November 30, where winners will claim the prestigious 23.9-carat gold-plated AFRIMA trophy. The event will be broadcast live in over 84 countries, bringing the magic of African music to a global audience.
